East Moriches is a small hamlet in the southeastern most section of Brookhaven Town. It is bordered on the west byCenter Moriches, on the east by Eastport, on the north byManorville, and on the south by Moriches Bay. East Moriches"Main Street" (Montauk Highway) spans barely two blocks and the few businesses include two delis, a bank, a gas station, EastMoriches Hardware, one restaurant, and a jewelry store. The EastMoriches elementary school is on the west side of town and its two buildings house grades K thru 8. Many streets in EastMoriches lie within its historic district. The oldest house in EastMoriches was built in 1692, and some of the structures from the 1700´s and 1800´s still stand today. The historic buildings mixed with the many newly constructed houses provide a variety of choices for buyers interested in purchasing East MorichesNY Real Estate. East Moriches is unique because it is one of the few places remaining on Long Island which has the charm of a small town. Although it is just a few minutes from Westhampton Beach, EastMoriches maintains its serenity even in the busy summer season. Open space can still be found with nurseries, parkland and horse farms. East Moriches lies along Moriches Bay where boating and fishing are favorite pass times. Moriches Inlet, which lies directly to the south of East Moriches, gives direct access to the Atlantic Ocean.. Many homes border the bay or canals which helps enhance the value of East Moriches NY Real Estate.Cupsogue Beach, which lies on the western side of Westhampton Dunes on the ocean, is a favorite spot for many East Morichesresidents. The outdoor restaurant and the live bands provide a great place to relax on summer evenings. Landmarks include the Ketcham Inn on the East Moriches-Center Moriches border which dates to the late 1600´s , the East Moriches Coast Guard Station, the TWA Flight 800 Memorial at Kaler's pond Park and a small airport at which you can enjoy a sightseeing ride, learn to fly or go skydiving. Personally, I prefer a Southwest Airlines flight from convenient Islip Airport on a Boeing 737. I am always able to get some very good views of East Moriches and some great pictures too!
